RED 4519C Diagnostic and Instructional Interventions in Reading
This course introduces formal and informal methods and materials used to identify reading strengths and weaknesses of students. Topics include assessments of all aspects of reading, including comprehension, word recognition, phonics and cognitive strategies. The main emphasis is diagnosis of reading problems, administration of assessments, evaluation of results and planning instructional interventions to remediate reading difficulties. An additional 20 hours of clinical experience to be completed in the IRSC tutoring labs on the Main Campus is a required part of the course.
